25 things every woman needs to know.

WordPress prompts me to write “my thoughts here” as a little side note to why I re-blogged this. My thoughts as I was reading were “re-blog, re-blog, hehe, re-blog, so true, re-blog, ooh that’s me, re-blog…”

1) Life is a steep, uphill battle but it’s fierce & it’s beautiful & you’ll be sad to see it go if you live it right.

2) New people won’t stop coming into your life and opportunities won’t stop knocking on the door but you need to have the space for them. In all you currently have– be them relationships or obligations– step back and ask yourself “why.” If you can find the answer, hold tighter. If the answer escapes you, it’s time to let something go.

3) You should resolve to be awesome for the rest of your life. Right now. Do it.

4) Leggings, no matter how much we wish, will never one day magically transform into pants. Wearing them with tops that don’t cover your bum is not cute. Please, please, please stock up on pants.

5) Goals are not a January 1st kind of thing. Set…

After a tense week at work, actually a couple of tense weeks… it was nice to read the wall in the photo of this post. For manic depressive people and the chemically unbalanced, it might be harder to choose to be happy, but for those who aren’t that way inclined, happiness IS a choice. There are people at my work who grumble and mumble all day long about how they hate their job and are over it but will continue to bog themselves down with unhappy thoughts because they think they have no other choice. You always have a choice. It might not always be the easiest but whichever choices make you feel happy – those are the right choices.
I like my job but I definitely don’t love it enough to want to make a career of it, plus I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel – that might make it easier for me to be happier about my situation here. Their unhappiness radiates through the office and you can feel it. Well, I can.
Don’t worry. Be happy!

Just like Katy Perry, I want to go Raw – but quite a lot different. Not entirely raw because the thought of consuming a raw egg does not appeal to me in any way shape or form. Blerk. Cooked? Fine. Raw? No. But raw enough to be eating more fruits and veges in their non-cooked form and creating tasty snacks out of raw foods that aren’t necessarily just a piece of fruit, or a freshly peeled carrot.

A visit to my naturopath today to sort out some of my digestive issues concluded in a general “eat more raw food” message. And not because she’s a dirty hippy who thinks anything cooked over 65 degrees is the devil, but because, from her professional health perspective, raw foods contain the enzymes our tummies need to help break down the food in the first place. I almost asked her if steaming was OK. I already knew the answer… sigh….

My tummy doesn’t produce those enzymes so well and needs a little help along. And because it doesn’t produce the enzymes so well, it can’t break down my food for me and so I get gassy (sexy!) and tired and then I get smelly and grumpy and that’s not nice for me or anyone else around me. I’m eating well and pretty balanced and I don’t consume a lot of processed foods but I’m not absorbing a lot of the goodness in my food because I can’t digest it properly to maximise the absorption process. Bad tummy.

So! Does anyone have any tasty raw food recipes they would like to share with me? Or a wonderful raw food blog that is helpful and awesome? I love salad. So a site completely dedicated to salads would be amaze-balls.

I once knew a girl who was on a raw food diet who looked SICK a lot of the time. Pretty sure she had taken it to the extreme and had become undernourished. I won’t go that far. I want to look healthy, but most of all I want to FEEL healthy. The looking healthy will just come as part of that. Surely.

Mostly I want recipes, I don’t so much need the tips on balance of vitamin and nutrient intake, or supplementing to avoid deficiencies – I’m proficient in deficiencies and have been given potions, powders and pills oh my! to combat and compliment the process. It’s more the food I want. Mmmm fooood.

Have you gone raw? Share! I know you want to 🙂

Wrecking ball – covered

Do you see what I did there?! did you? Hmmm? It’s James Arthur and he’s doing a COVER but he’s also not naked… Huh? Huh? 😉

Anyway, it’s very nice to hear this song and watch a video of a person not undressed, not straddling a giant metal ball and not Miley Cyrus. Bless her, she’s just growing up and doing silly things like most of us did at 19 (not to say we all got naked and straddled a wrecking ball. Hey, maybe some of you did? I’d love to hear about it another time…) but the difference is, her life is supersized and put in front of the world to see so WHY NOT get nekkid and swing around on a construction apparatus?! YOLO!

On a side note: kudos to James for not yet fixing his teeth. Stay true to your British heritage, brother! Do it for England! Is he from England? Details.

And kudos to Erin for forwarding me the Sony music promo email thing, without you, I’d never have been inspired to write this. Erin, you are the wind beneath my wings.

Enjoy the toon xx
